About

My name is Emma. My middle name is Tippins. This is a family surname. Backwards it spells “Snippit.” Pretty cute, eh? Pretty cute.

I am 18 years old. At present I am a freshman viola performance major in Nashville, TN. It rocks! It’s the best. I am from Alabama though.

I used to post on BTN until I got really bored and kind of angry and stormed out in a huff. I used these posting names: blaaarg, Octavia, and Tippins. If you see me posting there anymore it will be under “blaaarg,” which is really the only name I felt at all comfortable with. I changed it because it made other people uncomfortable, which is a pretty stupid thing to do under any circumstance. You will also be able to recognize me because there will be a praying mantis involved in my post somewhere. Not for any real reason, I just dig ‘em and I definitely don’t mind them being my signature image. I have a candid, stream of consciousness nameblog here which you’re probably not interested in but also will probably get updated a lot more often.

I really love names, man, I really do. I prefer liking names to disliking them. Generally I prefer having fewer rules than more rules, although I used to be super [name-]conservative and it still shows up pretty strongly sometimes. My rules and philosophies are always in flux and I am pretty much okay with that.

A big thing, though: Most of the time I play with names, I’m not thinking about using them. I’m not. When I talk about Marietta Deathbed and Helmut Franz Ferdinand it’s not because I’m imagining spawning children called that. It’s for fun. That’s not to say I don’t concern myself with shortlists at all – just not always, or even the vast majority of the time.

Audeline is a corruption of Ottoline I discovered when I was doodling Ottoline over and over. It’s actually used a lot more than Ottoline, according to facebook. I started this account to experiment with my character Ottoline, which was taken, but I’m not really into that experiment anymore. I dunno if I’ll keep it, but yeah, if you were wondering, that’s why I’m Audeline.
